A winding path through a misty moss-covered forest

Three Months to See Differently

Most photographers who reach out to me have already done the work. They understand exposure, they've upgraded their gear, they've watched the tutorials. And yet something still isn't clicking.

The images are competent. Sometimes even good. But they don't feel like yours yet.

That gap between where you are and where you want to be isn't about information. You have plenty of that. It's about seeing—and seeing is something you can only develop with guidance, feedback, and focused practice over time.

That's what this mentorship is for.

This is for you if…

This is not for beginners still learning their camera. It's for photographers who are ready to go deeper.

  • You’ve learned a lot, but your work still feels inconsistent—good one day, flat the next
  • You sometimes like your images but can’t explain why they work or how to do it again
  • You feel pulled in different directions stylistically and aren’t sure what’s really yours
  • You sense there’s something personal in your work but can’t quite articulate it yet
  • You want thoughtful, honest feedback—not presets, formulas, or generic advice

What's Included

$1,295 · Three Months

Academy members: $1,100(15% off)

Includes full Academy access for the duration of the mentorship

Initial Portfolio Review

We start with a deep dive into 8–10 of your images. Not a quick critique, but a real conversation about what’s working, what isn’t, and what your work is trying to say. This sets the direction for everything that follows.

Six One-Hour Coaching Sessions

Every other week, we meet on Zoom for focused, one-on-one work. We’ll look at new images, revisit older ones, work through creative blocks, and refine your approach to composition and storytelling. Each session builds on the last.

Custom Assignments

Between sessions, I’ll give you specific challenges designed to push your seeing in new directions. These aren’t busywork. They’re targeted exercises based on what I observe in your work.

Ongoing Support & Academy Access

For the full three months, you’ll have access to the Creative Path Academy—including the complete session library, our member community, and my personal teaching companion, an AI trained on my composition frameworks and two decades of teaching experience. When you’re out shooting and want to think through a composition decision or revisit something we discussed, it’s there. You’ll also have direct email access to me throughout.

Why This Works

Robert Rodriguez Jr.

I've had to learn composition three times in my life.

First as a musician, where I spent 20 years understanding how rhythm, tension, and resolution create emotional impact. Then as a photographer, where I discovered that visual composition follows the same principles. And then again as a painter, starting from literally zero in my 50s, proving to myself that these skills can be learned at any age.

What I teach isn't rules to memorize. It's a language to speak. The same language that applies whether you're behind a camera, holding a brush, or sitting at a piano. And like any language, it requires practice, feedback, and someone who can hear what you're trying to say and show you how to say it more clearly.

That's what I do in this mentorship. I help you develop fluency in seeing.

What Past Students Say

After a lapse of several years...I wanted to resume my photography passion, but with depth and detail and most important, the personal attention that I learned was available from Robert. I’ve been a member for a short time now and it’s clear that I’m learning not merely the mechanics of image editing and creating a print, but with the esthetics of the output…showing me elements in my photographs that had escaped my very own vision and help me improve the final output.

Len Schweitzer

He worked with me on improving my approach to composition, light and feeling. It was terrific. His ability to understand what I was seeking and his mentoring on what I need to look for, how I could improve in the field, composition and post processing techniques, was extremely helpful. It is well worth experiencing his mentoring to help one move to a refined level of understanding and skill.

Tana Ebbole

Thank you, Robert, for our recent mentorship session. You have an amazing grasp of Lightroom; and, you have an uncanny ability to relay that knowledge in a patient and thorough way. Also, your comments on composition and color were most helpful! Finally, you have a positive, “can-do” attitude and a terrific sense of humor which has energized my photographic journey.

How It Works

Space is limited because this is real mentorship, not a course. I work with a small number of photographers at a time so I can give each one the attention this deserves.

Questions You Might Have

What if I’m not sure I’m ready for this?

If you’re asking that question, you might not be. This is for photographers who already know they want to grow and are looking for the right guide. If you’re still on the fence about whether you want to invest in your development, start with a single Master Your Path session ($150) and see how we work together.

What kind of photography do you work with?

I work primarily with landscape and nature photographers, but the principles of composition and visual storytelling apply across genres. If your work involves creating meaningful images from the world around you, we can work together.

What’s the time commitment?

Six one-hour sessions over three months, plus time to complete assignments and review your work. Most photographers find this fits comfortably into their existing schedule.

What if my schedule doesn’t allow us to finish in exactly three months?

Life happens. If we need an extra few weeks to accommodate travel, busy seasons, or time to finish an assignment, that’s perfectly fine. I’d rather we finish well than rush. The three-month framework keeps us focused, but I’m flexible with the timeline.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes. Two payments of $650 each, or we can discuss other arrangements.

What if it’s not a good fit?

If after our first session you feel this isn’t right for you, I’ll refund your payment in full. I want you to be confident this is the right step.

I’m already an Academy member. Can I still do this?

Absolutely—and you’ll get 15% off. Academy members pay $1,100 instead of $1,295. The mentorship runs alongside your existing membership. You’ll keep your full Academy access and add the mentorship on top—portfolio review, six one-hour sessions, custom assignments, and direct email support. Several of my mentorship students started as Academy members who wanted to go deeper.

This isn't a quick improvement program. It's a period of focused attention. Three months gives us enough time to observe patterns, test ideas, and let changes settle into your way of working—not just your next images.
